We love our bees!

At Seeds and Deeds Farm, we cultivate bees! This is also known as Apiculture. Here’s a recent post I made about our girls! I hope you find joy and inspiration from it!:

“The girls have been out and about! We had a warm spell on Feb. 28, when I did a walk through of the apiary’s. I sat and enjoyed a moment of gratitude in the warm sun, pleased to have bees buzzing around again!

90% survival rate this year, beyond happy! It was a tough winter, we had sub zero temps for longer than previous years. Following a draught this summer, beekeepers are reporting 70% loss, as colony collapse is a major concern for the agriculture community across the country.

Waiting for a warmer day to pop open the hives to do a quick peek. We have one have that needs relocated, so now to bribe my oldest to put on a suit and carry a hive full of bees. He wants ZERO to do with bees. Younger son, gets all close and personal, but has yet to dig into hive with me. It did take a few years before I got my hubby to join me.

Maple, Adler, Juiper pollen is blooming now.

The bees have been out and about this week, I even had one visit me in the high tunnel yesterday.

Thank you bees!

No bees, no food, no us.”
